The release of Google Nexus 7 ushered in a new preference for computing devices: small and cheap. The market is quick to adapt and many manufacturers started producing tablets. ASUS has joined the era of producing ultrabooks and tablets. The Memo Pad HD 7 is the company's latest attempt at penetrating the same market as Google Nexus 7.

The new Asus Memo Pad HD 7 comes with a rear-facing and 5-megaixel camera. ASUS claims the Memo Pad HD7 is a tablet that brings incredible value.

Price for the 7-inch tablet starts at US$129 (8GB model) while the 16GB starts around US$149. Prices for the Asus Memo Pad HD7 make it one of the cheapest Android tablets today. The company does well in proving they do provide great computing experience for a good value.

The Memo Pad HD 7 appears very much like the Nexus 7 although this comes as no surprise as Asus is the same manufacturer of the Nexus 7. Memo Pad is available in four colors: white, black, pink and green. More choices of color will help boost Memo Pad's appeal in the market.

Memo Pad HD 7 weighs 302g. Despite being thicker, it is 38 lighter compared to Nexus 7. The construction gives people better grip on the device without the weight taking a toll. Although the tablet is an entry device for ASUS, it has high potential. It brings a whole lot more for a good price.

The Memo Pad HD 7 runs on quad-core Cortex A7 processor and offers up to 1GB of RAM. The 8GB and 16GB versions pertain to the device's internal storage. Each tablet comes with a microSD giving users the option to expand the memory.

Asus' latest HD 7 comes with a 7-inch IPS screen including a 1280x800 resolution. The front camera shoots at 1.2 megapixels whereas the rear camera shoots at 5 megapixels. It also comes with a 720p HD video recorder. The rear camera is optional depending on the model.
