August:Osage County Actress' Death Confirmed; Family Fear Foul Play
It is now officially confirmed that the body found in a ravine near Seattle is that of the missing actress Misty Upham. The news has been confirmed by BBC.
Yesterday, a body was found in the aforementioned area under reportedly mysterious circumstances. As per the official statement released by Auburn police, a purse was found near the body. The item contained the identity of the 32-year-old actress.
Condolences started pouring in as soon as the dreadful news is confirmed. Meryl Streep, with whom the actress had worked together in 'August: Osage County', commented about her sadness to the Hollywood Reporter. Upham's other movie co-star Melissa Leo and the organization PETA had expressed their sadness and grief through separate official statements.
The 'Frozen River' actress was last seen on October 6 and had been reported missing since then. Her father lodged a missing person report, but police failed to find her on time. On the other hand, filmmaker Tracy Rector told the Hollywood Reporter that the dead actress' family wants everyone to know that the police did not help with the situation at all.
The body, too, was found by the actress' family and friends who were conducting a search in the area. The family members are also banishing the claims of suicide and want a legal investigation in the matter.
Upham belonged to the Native American community and often remained distress about her people, as shared by Huffington Post journalist in a memoir sharing a meeting with the actress. She was suffering from bipolar disorder, as told by multiple sources, and was under medication for some unnamed problem as mentioned in the missing person report filed by her father.
Since the very first day of her disappearance, the actress' father had earlier also voiced out his fear that his daughter might commit suicide. The actress was quite vocal in her support to her native community and believed to have gained some enemies, as revealed by actress Juliette Lewis in a tweet.
