In the 2008 World Series of Poker, he finished 4th in the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha championship for US $268,605. The Melbourne haul brings him another $134,500 in tournament winnings and the title of one of the most prestigious poker tournaments in Australia and Asia.

It was indeed a coup for the Australian who beat out erstwhile chip leaders Ashley Mason from the United Kingdom and David Yan from New Zealand who finished at 3rd and 4th places, respectively. Six other Australians also played in the final table and all got handsomely paid for their efforts.
