Australia fast bowler James Pattinson has been sidelined by a recurring abdominal strain and will not take part in the A tour of England.

Pattinson sustained the injury in the ODI series in the United Kingdom earlier this month, but hoped to return to action in the two two-day fixtures against the England Lions.

The right-armer is expected to be fit for the limited-overs series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in August after being named in the squad for the three one-dayers.

However, he won't be considered for selection for the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in September.

Western Australia fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile is set to join the A squad as Pattinson's replacement.
