Aussie Gay Marriage Ad Video Hits Reach Almost 1.9 Million in YouTube
A two-minute video to promote gay marriage produced by Australian lobby group GetUp has gone viral in YouTube. Since it was posted on the video sharing site on Sunday, the video had almost 1.9 million views as of Tuesday noon.
GetUp made the video for the Australian Labor Party national conference which will tackle same-sex unions. The video tells the story of a man named Paul who enters friendship, falls in love and reveals later his sexual preference after his partner proposes.

The video has for its ending the slogan "It's Time. End marriage discrimination."
Although party leader and Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has allowed a conscience vote on the issue by federal MPs, the measure has less chance of succeeding because of the anti-gay marriage stand by many Labor members who are mostly conservative and even Liberal-National coalition members.
"We've been pointing to the national conference as a key moment for the party to reconsider its stance on marriage and pave the way for equality, and with only one week to go, we need to do all we can to ramp up that pressure," GetUp campaigner Paul Mackay said in a statement.
Some groups have given positive reviews about the video. Lucas Grindley of The Advocate described it as the most beautiful ad for marriage equality, while Mvelase Peppetta of Memeburn said the video's core message on the importance of commitment should resonate with people.
