Aussie man identified as intruder on Miranda Kerr’s mansion
A 29-year-old man from Brisbane has been charged with attempted murder after breaking into Miranda Kerr’s home in Malibu, California, on Oct. 14.
Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office identified Shaun Anthony Haywood as the intruder who stabbed one of Kerr’s security guards with a knife during the break-in.
According to earlier reports citing state prosecutors, Haywood allegedly broke into Kerr’s property to deliver a letter to the Australian supermodel. Kerr’s neighbours claimed that Haywood jumped the fence onto Kerr’s property and attacked the security guard. After wrestling and injuring the security guard, Haywood was shot in the face four times, twice on the chest and twice on the shoulder. Both Haywood and the security personnel were rushed to the hospital after the incident.
If convincted, Haywood will face life-time imprisonment. He is set to appear in court Thursday.
The 33-year-old Kora Organics owner and her five-year-old son, Flynn, live in Malibu with her 26-year-old fiancé Evan Spiegel, one of the founders of Snap Inc., which is behind the social media app Snapchat and video-recording sunglasses Spectacles. Previously married to English Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, Kerr is reportedly mulling on returning to Sydney following the forced entry into her California home, which Spiegel had bought for US$12 million (AU$15.6 million).
Kerr’s return to Australia is seen to ensure her safety and her son Flynn, especially since Spiegel’s title of being the world’s youngest billionaire make them a target for robbery and kidnapping.
“She’s making plans to move back to Sydney for at least the next few months. It’s the one place she feels comfortable,” an insider was quoted in various outlets.
Kerr and Spiegel are set to get married next year after getting engaged on July 20. The couple has been dating since June 2015.
Spiegel’s net worth is estimated to be worth US$2.1 billion (AU$2.8 billion) while Kerr has not been listed as one of the world’s highest paid celebrities.
