Sydney locals and innovative garage rock rebels, The Vines, is set to release their newest record Future Primitive on Friday, June 3rd. In an announcement on their website, the band also prepares for a rare meet and greet occasion for Aussie fans at Hum in Oxford Street this Saturday.

Future Primitives is the band's latest release, an album they have funded themselves due to the lack of a recording label. The band finished the album a year ago, and after the album was done, the band pitched it to various record companies like starting bands would do. This move became a controversial action for a group that has been around for nearly a decade. Despite public opinion, the band went ahead to shoot the music video for the album's first single "Gimme Love" where it garnered thousands of views in YouTube. The entire Future Primitive album is available for preview on their site with 1-minute sound bits from the 13 tracks.

The Vines is the first Aussie band to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine 25 years after Men At Work appeared in it. The band has been making a sound that set the pace for riff-driven, raw, vocal music - a creative intuition that both The White Stripes and The Strokes possess. After the sucess of their 2004 album Winning Days, The Vines have effortlessly injected their garage band style in contemporary rock and continues to make music that will keep them on the charts.

On an advertisement in their site, the band has advised fans to show up at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at HUM in Oxford Street, Sydney on Saturday, June 4th where they'll sign copies of Future Primitive. The Vines has also recruited fans to star in the album's title track music video, which is set to happen today at 5 P.M. Future Primitive is the band's fifth studio album following their 2008 release Melodia.
