A 17-year-old Australian discovered she was pregnant with her first child when she woke up from a coma. The medically induced coma for two weeks was the result of Aussie police discovering April unconscious on the roadside.

The police thought she was a victim of hit-and-run, but April-Lee Gillen, who is from Lake Heights, said she was dragged inside a black vehicle, a BMW SUV, by two men who attempted to kidnap her on April 20, 2014, reports News.com.au.

She told her mother Leonie that she would go to her boyfriend’s house but will be back home by 10:30 p.m.

According to police investigation, April was probably raped while unconscious inside the car and then ejected from the vehicle, although her injuries indicated she must have tried to escape. April thinks she fought her abductors because she has always been reminded by her mum to scream and put up a fight if ever she got into such a situation.

After she left her boyfriend’s house, while walking along Northcliffe Drive in Warrawog on her way home at about 12:20 am, she posted on her Facebook account using her mobile phone that an Asian man stopped and invited her to his car. By 2 am, another driver found her unconscious in a gutter, according to Acting Superintendent Andrew Koutsesouflis.

But April insisted on keeping the baby who turned out to be a boy when she gave birth on Dec 24. She named her son Jacobie, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

April shared her story with A Current Affairs, while Leonie appealed for people with information about the crime to come forward.
