The Southern Stars proved their might as they advance to a 3-2 lead over New Zealand in the one-day series on Tuesday.

Lead by team captain Jodie Fields, Lisa Sthalekar and Alex Blackwell, the pack of Aussie women dominated the field with an impressive display of bowls and batting prowess. The match held in Brisbane on Tuesday marks the 3rd win for the Southern Stars, only needing a draw on Thursday's match to secure the Rose Bowl trophy. The New Zealand squad has 2 one-day series win, and they will need all the luck they could get to defeat the Aussies for the series title.

"It was obviously a good feeling to retain the Rose Bowl Trophy today, everyone's very happy with the win and we've taken some good confidence out of game", says Jodie Fields in a report posted at ABC.net. "We wanted to play some smart, positive cricket and the plan was to get out on the field early and to get rid of some of those nerves and cobwebs and I think we showed our intent right from the start" says the captain in the same article.

Clea Smith scored huge for the Aussie team, finishing 4 for 32, with left-handed batsman Shelley Nitschke who finished 2 for 32. The Aussies had quite a struggle with the wicket, but it didn't stop them from winning the match. "The wicket was slightly slow but the outfield was probably quicker than we thought it was going to be", says Fields in the same ABC report.

The intense match had its highlights and list of prolific players from the visitor's court as well. Karen Martin, New Zealand's wicket keeper, added 33 from 44, while Sara McGlashan made 29, but this display of skill wasn't enough to push their team to the top. In the end, New Zealand bowled out for 181 in the 49th.

The Southern Stars are set to defend the title on Thursday's final match for the one-day Rose Bowl series.
