"Like what?!"

That is how Austin Mahone reacted when he learned of the rumors that he and Selena Gomez are allegedly dating.

During the Aquafina FlavorSplash Super Bowl kick-off concert in New York, the 17-year-old singer responded to rumors of him and the Disney alum supposedly dating.

"No definitely not," he tells E! Online, and adds that he and Selena are just close friends.

Austin also said that it was "pretty crazy" after he found out such rumors.

"I just woke up and they're like, 'Oh yeah by the way they say you're dating Selena Gomez..'" he recounts. "Like what?! That's the most random thing ever."

So what does he like about Selena... well, as a friend?

"We are always talking about music," he tells MTV. "She showed me some of her songs that she's got coming up, so we're cool."

Rumors of him and Selena dating started to circulate when the two were spotted together at Disneyland last summer, where the latter invited the former to hang out there.

And just yesterday, it was reported that Taylor Swift had a part in pairing the two to go out on a date. She thinks that Austin is such a nice guy who is totally ideal for her BFF Selena.

"It's no secret she's not a fan of Justin [Bieber, Selena's ex-boyfriend] anymore, so it seems pretty obvious why she'd want to push Austin and Selena together," a source told Hollywood Life.

Justin has been involved in a series of runs-in with the authorities since Thursday last week, Jan. 23. However, Selena seems unaffeced at all with such issues with her ex-boyfriend, as she was spotted on several occasions with friends Demi Lovato (who told E! Online that Selena is "strong and doing really well right now") and Ashley Benson (the two were together at a pre-Grammys party).

It probably helped that friends like Demi, Ashley, Taylor and Austin are there to support Selena in these times.
