Australia Braces For Tuesday’s Cyber Flash Sale Click Frenzy
Organizers and some 200 retail participants into the first cyber flash sale Click Frenzy are all agog making last minute detailed preparations in anticipation of an online mob going bargain hunting on Tuesday evening beginning 7pm AEDT.
Click Frenzy is a flash sale that is Australia's answer to the United States' much touted Cyber Monday discount day for online shoppers. Held nationally, Click Frenzy involves big name retailers and establishments offering huge discounts on products from health to fashion to liquor to home to travel, but only for a limited 24-hour period.
Among the big ticket establishments that signed up for the online flash sale include Myer, Westfield, Dick Smith, Target, Bing Lee, Dell, Microsoft, as well as Ted's Cameras Vodafone, Priceline, Dan Murphy's. There are also pure online players like OO.com.au, Kogan, The Iconic, Booktopia, and DealsDirect.
Grant Arnott, organizer of the event, expects Click Frenzy to rake in tens of millions of dollars for local retailers, prompting retailers to double check and ensure their online infrastructure could cope with anticipated demand.
"It's hard to tell exactly how much they will spend but we are expecting there will be a high conversion rate. People will be coming in with the intent not just to browse but to capitalise on the offers," Mr Arnott said.
He said that based on a last-minute surge in pre-registrations, they expect the undertaking will attract over a million visitors.
"We're getting an extra 20,000 to 30,000 registrations a day," he said. "We've been working closely with our infrastructure company and we've been assured that the site will hold up.
"We're also passing the message on to our retailers that we're revising up our traffic projections significantly because the interest has been much bigger than we anticipated," he said.
Australian technology company Kogan is one of the retailers participating in this year's Click Frenzy, and has revealed to CNET Australia some of its juiciest discounts, including:
- 22-inch LED TV with PVR for AU$139 (26 per cent discount)
- Twin-tuner HD digital set-top box with PVR for AU$59 (25 per cent discount)
- 46-inch borderless LED TV for AU$499 (33 per cent discount)
- 55-inch 3D LED TV (full HD) for AU$799 on presale special (20 per cent discount).
BigPond Music is offering 50 per cent off on all albums in its catalogue, while BigPond Shopping has selected bed linen for the same 50 per cent discount, CNET Australia reported.
Consumers should ensure their details are registered at www.clickfrenzy.com.au to avail of the big sale.
Consumers need to register at Click Frenzy to avail of the one off 24 hour e-deals and can do so even just minutes before the Frenzy begins at 7pm, Jessica Benton, Click Frenzy PR and Marketing Manager, said.
"One retailer may have just 5-10 sale items while another may have up to 100," Ms Benton said.
"We're advising retailers to put stock warning on products if there is limited supply of a particular item so consumers won't miss out."
