Australia day celebrations will be pursued come what may. The Sunshine Coast Council has already prepared for three major events happening for the 2012 Australia Day.

  • Sunshine Coast Australia Day Award - scheduled on Wednesday Jan. 25 at the Maroochy Baptist Center in North Buderim. The event will start from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. No change of venue is expected.
  • Australia Day Celebrations - scheduled on Thursday Jan. 26 at The Events Center in Minchinton Street, Caloundra starting from 10 a.m. to 5 p .m.
  • Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony - happening on Thursday Jan. 26 at the Noosa Leisure Center along Wallace Drive, Noosaville. The event will take place at 9 a.m.

Locals are the stars in the 4th annual Sunshine Coast Australia Day Awards. Recognition and honor shall be rewarded to those with outstanding contributions to the Sunshine Coast. Awards are presented according to categories: Business, Creative, Community, Sport and Recreation, Senior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Environment.

A dry party is expected to happen for the Australia Day celebrations. To stay away from the rain, the party will be moved indoors at The Events Center at Caloundra. For sure, there will be fun entertainment for everybody regardless of age.

Participants can enjoy the fun moment from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Major shows taking place include Shaun the Sheep meet and greet, The Floating Bridges, Bananas in Pyjamas stage show, Dan England, Afterglow and Andrew Redford.

For the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony, over 200 locals will come at a special celebration held inside Noosa Leisure Center. This event is administered by the Sunshine Coast Council, which is especially dedicated to the families and friends of the newest Australian citizens.

Apart from the mentioned three major celebrations, Sunshine Coast Council has also organized plenty of community activities such as the Noosa Local Legends Awards.
