The number of job advertisements published on Australia's newspapers and online fell 0.7 percent in July seasonally adjusted terms compared with June.

This brings the total number of job advertisements to a four-month low as the July average reached 187,150 adverts per week.

The monthly total, on the other hand, was still at 8.3 percent higher when compared with July 2010 figures, according to ANZ Bank, which compiles the data from major newspapers.

Data recorded showed that the number of internet job advertisements fell 0.7 percent in July from June, but it remained 9.5 percent higher on year in seasonally adjusted terms.

Job advertisements in newspapers fell 0.5 percent in July, contributing to a 12.5 percent annual decrease in seasonally adjusted terms.

The total number of job ads is now 49 percent below a peak recorded in April 2008, ANZ said in a statement.
