Recent polls about the upcoming elections reveal Coalition is leading the race. According to surveys, one out of two voters is in favor of the Coalition. The recent results also show the Coalition gaining as much as a 16-point lead.

The Australian published Newspoll showing the increasing support for the Coalition. Based on the publication, primary vote for the party increased by three points - they are now up to 49 percent. The Labor party is trailing behind with 30 percent.

The results and preferences showed meant a 58-42 standing. The former is leading by more than ten points. Preference flows from the previous election indicate the Labor can lose up to 35 seats - an electoral wipeout. There is an eight percent gap showing where the nation is heading.

Tony Abbott is pulling away from his closest rival current Prime Minister Julia Gillard. He is up three points in two weeks. The last poll showed he has 43 percent support. Gillard lost four points, dropping her percent to 35.

The Government has been struggling with the recent budget crisis. It is also under heavy scrutiny for changes in the public funding. If the changes were made, political parties sought to gain $60 million. According to Fairfax Media, polls within the Labor party reveal that Treasurer Wayne Swan could lose his seat along with other Labor MPs.

Queensland polls show the treasurer's support to 28 percent. This is far from the 41 percent he gained last election. If all else fails, former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is the Labor's last hope in securing a seat in Queensland.
