Australian basketball stars raise money for flood victims
The greatest players in Australian basketball history are set to return to the court for ‘Charity Baskets’ this Sunday, January 30th, at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. The game will be played to raise money for the Queensland, NSW and Victoria flood victims.
The legends who made basketball boom in the 90’s, including Andrew Gaze, Lanard Copeland, Mark Bradtke, Chris Anstey, Darryl McDonald, Rob Rose, Marcus Timmons and Mark Davis, have dusted off the cobwebs to put on a show unlike anything ever seen before in Australian basketball history.
Variety, the children’s charity will distribute the funds to help children affected by the floods.
“For these great players to put their hand up and say they’re willing to play is a credit to themselves,” said Daniel Eade, who came up with the idea for ‘Charity Baskets’.
‘Charity Baskets’ will feature six former NBL MVP’s, and six former NBL Rookie-of-The-Year winners in a basketball extravaganza that is set to re-ignite the competitive juices of this country’s most electrifying players of yesterday.
“These are the greatest players we have ever seen in Australia, they can still play, and they will be playing to win, all while raising money for a great cause,” said Eade.
