Australian Hip Hop Artist Matthew Colwell Announces New Regional Tour To Promote 'Utopia' [See Tour Dates]
Australian hip hop artist and rapper Matthew Colwell, better known by his moniker 360, has announced dates for his regional shows to promote his latest LP "Utopia." The Melbourne-based artist will kick off his 16-date tour in Queensland at The Factory, Sunshine Coast on Thursday, Jan. 8, according to his official website. The tour goes to New South Wales and then Victoria before wrapping up on Saturday, Jan. 31 in Western Australia at the Dunsborough Tavern.
This will be Colwell's second Australian tour in less than six months as he recently wrapped up his capital cities tour some time back. Tickets for the shows go on sale from Nov. 14 at the official 360 website.
Colwell has recently been embroiled in a controversy when he called the Australian flag as "racist" in one of his recent television interviews. "There are so many racist bigots in this country, and they're everywhere. I was talking to someone earlier about this, but the Australian flag, to me, has now become... I identify that with racism," Colwell said to host Tony Jones at ABC's weekly panel program Q&A.
Colwell then supported his statement by narrating an incident when he saw a drunk topless man wearing the national flag of Australia and yelling abuses at his taxi driver on Australian Day. "I've been in a taxi where we've pulled up because these d-ckheads have been walking across the road, and they just start yelling at the taxi driver, like, 'Get out of the country! This is not your country!'," revealed Colwell, according to themusic.com.au.
The 28-year-old has so far released three studio albums. His first studio album was "What You See Is What You Get" and it was released in 2008. Colwell's second album was released in 2011 and is titled "Falling & Flying." The album bagged number four spot on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified a platinum hit. His third album "Utopia" was released in June this year.
