Senator Eric Abetz has highlighted some of the work done by his government in a post that was published on Monday. The Senator has addressed the unemployment issue of Australia in the post. He talked about the approach of the government to fix the economy and promote growth.

The Minister for Employment and Senator for Tasmania, Eric Abetz, posted a few comments on the unemployment issue on the official website of his ministry. The press release starts with the Senator saying that he believes that jobs are the “very best form of welfare.”

The Senator talked about how the government has tried to increase employment opportunities through some of the initiatives it has taken. He wrote that the removal of the carbon tax has helped reduce the cost of production and the cost of living for Australians. This has supposedly created jobs in dairy and zinc smelting industries. The projects that have been given environmental clearances are said to be worth $ 1 trillion.

“Red and green tape” are the two challenges for small businesses in Australia, according to Senator Eric Abetz, and the government is said to have “unshackled” the small businesses from these challenges. This is expected to make the businesses “more viable” and enable them to employ more people.

The Free Trade Agreements signed by the government with China, South Korea and Japan were pointed out by the Senator. The agreements are aimed at removing the tariffs imposed on Australian goods and increase exports. The statement also specifically mentions tourism from China as a factor that is “boosting” the economy.

The government has also made investments in infrastructure projects to ensure growth and promote employment. Senator Eric Abetz mentioned the $ 38 million Hobart Airport project, $ 400 million Midlands Highway upgrade project and the $ 60 million irrigation schemes as some of the examples of investments in infrastructure projects.

The Minister for Employment, who is also the Senator for Tasmania, said that more than 9,600 jobs have been created in Tasmania since the Liberals came to power. He however admitted that many people in the state are still unemployed, but assured the job seekers by saying that the government will support them and create a strong economy.
