Australian Olympic boxer Damien Hooper got himself embroiled in a tight fix during the weekend after a night of clubbing at a Queensland nightclub. One of the country's finest boxers is now facing charges before a court of law because of a gruesome night of misbehaving.

Police were called just after 2 a.m. on Sunday to the Oasis Nightclub in Dalby west of Brisbane. As police struggled to load him into a car and take him away, Mr Hopper allegedly dropped his pants and exposed himself to officers and spat in a male officer's face.

The professional boxing hopeful spent the rest of the morning in the watchhouse and was released on bail. He has been charged with wilful exposure, obstructing police and serious assault of a police officer.

"Police detained a 20-year-old Toowoomba resident in relation to other matters when he exposed himself to police and became aggressive and violent," Dave Tierney, Dalby police sergeant, said.

The police officer whom Mr Hooper spitted on would continue carrying out medical tests.

"Last night the officer had a blood test," Sgt Tierney said. "They will do another test in a couple of weeks then another one in six weeks' time."

He will appear before the Dalby Magistrates Court on February 19.

Mr Hooper gathered worldwide attention after getting reprimanded for wearing an Aboriginal flag T-shirt at the London Games. But he still failed to make it through to the quarter-finals, beaten by Russian Egor Mekhontcev 19-11.

Early this month, he signed a management deal with Xcite Fight promotions to handle his professional boxing career, after saying he has done and achieved all he could in the amateur ranks after competing at the London Olympics.
