Australian Open 2014: Celebrities Heat Up the Bleachers
Things are heating up one week into the Australian Open, but it's not only the tennis stars who sizzle on the court -- the bleachers are heating up as well with a bevy of celebrities who sat down and watched the match. The cameras went star-searching on the bleachers and here are some of the celebs spotted at the Aussie Open:
Lleyton Hewitt may have been eliminated early on in the Open and had since occupied a seat at the commentator's box, but his wife Bec has been cheering on him ever since the games began. Bec even took their daughter Mia with her to cheer on Lleyton in his team-up with Pat Rafter.
Andy Murray's girlfriend Kim Sears is also present at the Australian Open. The 25-year-old British artist has been a supportive partner to the latest Wimbledon men's tennis champion, but marriage rumours are still milling on them as Murray has not yet proposed to Sears.
On the other hand, Roger Federer's wife Mirka is a blushing mother of two, as she brings along their twin daughters Myla and Charlene to cheer on their dad. Not to mention that Mirka is also pregnant with their third child.
Because of the intense heat Down Under that "can fry eggs," athletes from other sports take their break to watch the tennis player do their thing on court. Football players are just some of them, as Hawthorn Football Club players Josh Gibson, Jordan Lewis and Jarryd Roughead sat by the bleachers, nearest to the courtside, and had a good time.
Last Thursday, Melbourne's temperature went up to a record-breaking 44 °C (112 °F), which caused disruptions during the Open's second round matches. And just to show how hot the heat Down Under is, a man put out a frying pan, broke two eggs in it and left it under the sun to "cook" it.
But these celebs sure didn't mind the sweltering heat because they are enjoying the tennis action from the courtside and cheering on their favourite players.
