The global creative agency that commenced work on Sydney New Year's Eve in 2011 with Marc Newson, has secured Kylie Minogue, another Australian Icon, as the Creative Ambassador for Sydney's 2012 New Year's Eve event.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore says Minogue will work with production and creative teams over the next nine months to help stage a night to remember. Minogue will be tasked with selecting the event's themes and colors which will be reflected in the massive fireworks display at midnight.

"With Kylie's input we will build on past successes of Sydney New Year's Eve, which attracts 1.5 million people to the harbor foreshore and contributes about $156 million to the local economy," Moore said in a statement. This year, Minogue is marking 25 years in the music industry.

She recently headlined the "Mardi Gras" parade and the singer shared that returning to Sydney to ring in the New Year is a dream come true.

"I'm a very proud Australian, so coming home to host Sydney New Year's Eve is a dream come true. No matter where I am in the world, I always watch Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks and even though I'm from Melbourne I could not miss this opportunity to celebrate 25 years of performing at the New Year's Eve capital of the world," Minogue said in a statement.

"So many things are happening for my 25th anniversary in music, but I can't think of a better finale for the K25 year than to be in Australia for the Sydney NYE celebrations," the singer further shared.

"We know Kylie will inject her own special brand of sparkle to Sydney, the New Year's Eve Capital of the World. The event brings to the table all her many talents as a singer, performer and designer. Kylie will work closely with Imagination's team on all creative elements of Sydney New Year's Eve," says Heath Campanaro, the General Manager of "Imagination."

From the 2012 Sydney New Year's Eve logo and theme, through to the colors and shapes of the fireworks displays, midnight soundtrack and bridge effect, Minogue's distinctive style and energy will play a key role in the celebrations.

The "Princess of Pop" will work collaboratively with "Imagination" to set the creative framework from which all elements of the event's design and branding will flow.

Using the Sydney's Harbour Bridge and Opera House as a sparkling backdrop, Minogue will work on the creative execution for the three official City of Sydney parties, two fireworks display themes and the musical soundtrack in conjunction with producer Josh Abrahams and Davide Carbone.

The colors, design and lighting elements on the bridge will also take visual cues from Minogue's distinctively warm, glamorous and fun style. After working with design luminary, Marc Newson in 2011, "Imagination" says the chance to work with another Australia icon, is a dream come true.
