Even Australia's farmers no longer need to physically conduct their business just to source their farming requirements.

Australian agribusiness company Elders has launched an online retail portal, dubbed AgSure, to help cater to the needs of Australian primary producers.

"Farmer buyer behaviour is changing; they're shopping around, researching online and are looking to buy at a time, and price, that suits them," Mark Geraghty, Elders General Manager - Strategy and Marketing, said in a statement.

As with the concept of most online retail stores, AgSure aims to become the farmers' trusted agribusiness Web site whenever they conduct their farm supplies transactions, from purchase to having the products delivered straight to their farm.

The first online agribusiness-related retail portal, AgSure offers competitively priced, selected animal health and agricultural chemical products, and upfront payment. However, it does not give technical advice, unlike with Elders' 220 branches across the country that offer personal and tailored service, expert advice and a full suite of products and services.

"Elders has always been in the business of offering solutions to help farmers get the most out of their operations and AgSure offers an alternative that hasn't existed in the market until now," Mr Geraghty said.

"AgSure will complement the existing Elders branch network and will see the company able to offer a complete retail experience."
