Australia’s Jarrod Lyle notches an ace with a hole in one at 16th causing spectators to roar with joy
Jarrod Lyle of Australia receives an explosion of joy from the crowd after acing with a hole in one at 16th in Scottsdale
Jarrod Lyle, one of Australia’s great professional golfers has received a thunderous roar and explosion of joy from Arizona’s raucous crowd after acing with a hole in one at the TPC’s Scottsdale trademark hole.
The 16th hole is described by the Associated Press with all the stands and luxury boxes surrounding it, and the trademark hole is where spectators would usually create a din with every tee shot.
Lyle said this is where any golfer must notch a hole in one. And he added that he couldn’t be happier to have that chance at TPC’s trademark hole in Arizona.
''If there was ever a hole in world golf where you want to have a hole in one, that would be right up there,” Lyle was quoted as saying by AP.
He explained that he first thought he assumed he made a mistake striking it long, when he hit the ball at 16th.
''When I hit it I thought it was too long. I told it to get down,'' Lyle was quoted as saying by AP. ''When it took its second bounce, I thought it was all right.''
But he knew he did it right when he heard the ‘explosion of joy’ from the crowd, which he said could be compared to 100,000 patrons in Australia.
''You can almost explain it like when they sing the national anthem in Australia before the Australian rules grand final,'' he said.
He insisted that what he had could be just one chance of a lifetime.
''It was one of those amazing feelings that you can't re-create,'' Lyle said with great pride, according to AP.
