'Australia's Next Top Model' host Sarah Murdoch to fire production company behind the show
Australia's Next Top Model host Sarah Murdoch has reportedly sacked television production company Granada Media Australia, two months after her embarrasing gaffe on the live telecast of the model search winner.
In a statement, Murdoch said: "Granada produced Australia's Top Model for six years. I worked with them for two years"
"They are a very talented and hard-working crew. But after what happened this year I thought very hard about it and decided it was probably time for a change.''
Thes Australia's Next Top Model's host announced the wrong winner for the Fox Televison's talent search last September. Murdoch initially anounced Sydney's Kelsey Martinovich as the season six's winner, and later admitted a mistake after Martinovich had already delivered her acceptance speech.
At first, it was thought to have been a technical issue involving the show's voting system but Be.Interactive, Australia's Next Top Model phone voting handler, said there were no technical problems with the voting and the vote was closed at the correct time and the correct winner was delivered.
Foxtel and Murdoch denied responsibility on their part, which led to speculations that the gaffe may have been a publicity stunt.
Showbiz Spy speculates that Shine Australia, who handles Junior MasterChef and Minute to Win It, and owned by Sarah's sister-in-law, Elisabeth Murdoch. is favored to pick up the rights to Australia's Next Top Model.
