Australia's UNSW, 3 others rank among world’s top 50 millionaire-producing colleges; University of Sydney hailed as Australia’s most innovative
The University of New South Wales, Sydney University, Monash University and University of Melbourne have been recognised as among the world’s best academic institutions with the most number of millionaire alumni.
Australia ranked next to the United States and the United Kingdom in the number of millionaire-producing universities across the globe, according to a report from intelligence firm WealthInsight and Elite Traveler magazine.
University of New South Wales ranked 24th on the Top 50 list while Sydney University placed 32nd. Monash University landed on the 45th spot while University of Melbourne made it to the global ranking at Top 49.
The US dominated the global list with 31 out of the 50 universities while the UK has six. Harvard University in Massachusetts ranked first as University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and Stanford University followed. UK’s Oxford University placed fourth on the list, followed by University of California, Berkeley.
Austin’s University of Texas ranked sixth while Ithaca’s Cornell University placed seventh. New Jersey’s Princeton University and Connecticut’s Yale University ranked eighth and ninth, respectively. The University of Michigan made it to the Top 10.
While the University of NSW placed first among Australian colleges with the most number of millionaire alumni, the University of Sydney ranked first in Australia in terms of innovation in science and technology.
The University of Sydney led the six Australian colleges that made it to Reuters’ top 75 list of Asia’s most innovative universities. The University of Sydney ranked 28th, followed by Monash University at 32nd place, University of Queensland at top 32, University of Melbourne at 34th place, University of NSW at top 52, and University of South Australia at 74th place.
South Korea’s KAIST bagged the number one spot on the Asian list, while Japan’s University of Tokyo. But China dominated the list with 22 universities on the Reuters’ ranking. South Korea and Japan both have 20 universities on the list, followed by Australia’s six colleges. India and Malaysia each have two universities while New Zealand has one.
