Because of Australia being a sexist nation, Dr John Gray, the author of famous relationship book Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus, has an unsolicited advice for Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard.

She must start acting more like a woman for her to win more female votes. Australia will have its federal election on Sept 14, and polls indicate she has weak chances of retaining her post as prime minister.

"Of all the places in the world, there's a greater acceptance in Australia that men and women are different ... These days it's sexism to say men and women are different, there are a group of people who think if you recognise difference between the sexes then that's sexist," The Herald Sun quoted Mr Gray.

Despite Opposition leader Tony Abbott being accused of misogyny, he said Ms Gillard is struggling in survey results since her harsh, masculine exterior has alienated her from female voters.

"Quite often in order to achieve political success women get there by thinking more like men. But if they think more like men, they're often judged more harshly by women," he explained.

Despite her weaker chances of winning another term as prime minister, Ms Gillard promised to serve another term in parliament if Labor loses in the September election, but she wins her post.

That would make her the first prime minister since Gough Whitlam to stay on after losing an election.
