Authorities warn retaliations may follow Osama bin Laden’s death
The International Law Enforcement Agency called for alertness among authorities in the wake of Osama bin Laden’s death.
According to Michael Shore who is a former CIA who helped prepare the US Special forces responsible for tracking bin Laden down, Al Qaeda remains a strong threat.
"The organization remains very resilient, they'll come up with another leader to follow Osama bin Laden and the fight will go on... as it will against the Taliban and other groups around the world," Shore added.
Security warnings to Americans across the nations were issued by the United States. A top Republican lawmaker reported that US security agencies are diligently working to prevent any assaults on United States or its systems out of the country.
Congressman Peter King conveyed, "This is a key moment because al Qaeda has to avenge. This is a terrible defeat for them and they have to move as quickly as they can, and it's up to us to stop them."
Consequently, Britain ordered its embassies to evaluate their security for fear of acts of vengeance due to the bin Laden’s killing.
There may be divisions of Al Qaeda that may demonstrate their reinstatement of business in the coming weeks, said Foreign Secretary William Hague.
"This is a very serious blow to Al Qaeda but, like any organization that endured a serious blow, they will want to show in some way that they are still able to operate," he said in an interview.
Alain Juppe, who is Hague's French counterpart, also cautioned everyone against "excessive optimism" in the wake of the killing. "Al Qaeda still exists. There are deputies. There are structures," Juppe related.
India, Japan and Malaysia made the same announcements regarding improved security against any possible upheavals. Moreover, Australian security and intelligence agencies have kept the threat at moderate level as terrorist attacks may be feasible and could happen whenever.
Internet sites maintained by bin Laden's supporters on his violent campaigns took to militant vows of revenge.
As quoted from the Shumukh al-Islam forum: "The lions will remain lions and will continue moving in the footsteps of Osama. O Allah, America will not enjoy safety and security until we live it in Palestine… The celebrations are amusing. Cheer all you want infidel, you only have a limited amount of time in this life in which to do it.”
