Australia's 2009 "GQ Man of the Year" Sam Worthington goes all out and bloody after he allegedly started punching a paparazzo named Sheng Li whom reports say allegedly kicked Sam's girlfriend, 26-year-old Lara Bingle, in the shins.

According to a report from TMZ, Worthington and Bingle were walking out of a bar in Greenwich Village when the paparazzo, for some reason, attacked Bingle. Worthington's initial reaction was to jump to her defense and punch the guy in the face.

The said bar was Benny's Burritos. E! managed to talk to the restaurant manager and got told that both Worthington and Bingle were bloody after the altercation and that they showed their injuries to the police.

In addition, according to ABC News, a court complaint says Bingle told the police that Li followed her on the streets and tried to trip her. Otherwise, defense lawyer Ronald Ruby says that Li was the one attacked by the couple and not the other way around.

New York City police arrested Worthington and Li, and both men were charged. Worthington was charged with assault but was released. NYPD gave him a desk appearance ticket to appear in court.

Sheng Li, on the other hand, is still in custody for arraignment for not having press credentials. Li was booked for restless endangerment, assault and harassment.

Worthington and Bingle were rumoured to be an item, and since then have gone out in public with their romance.

Worthington was born in Surrey, England but moved to Australia, where he was raised and began his acting career. He portrayed his first professional role in Belvoir Street Theatre Production, and then continued to work in Australian television.

Worthington's career took off and reached its peak when he was cast as Jake Sully in the 2009 blockbuster movie "Avatar" and as Marcus Wright in "Terminator Salvation" in the same year.

In addition to Avatar and Terminator Salvation, Worthington has also acted and became more popular in the movie "Clash of the Titans" in 2010 and "Man on a Ledge" in 2012.
