'Avengers 4' may be the film for Shuri to rise
With all the deaths in “Infinity War,” “Avengers 4” may be the film for the rise of Shuri (Letitia Wright). The character plays an important role in the comic books, and she may start stepping up to a bigger role in the upcoming film. The following article contains spoilers from “Infinity War.”
While the fans saw the deaths of many of their beloved characters, the fate of many others remained uncertain. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Angela Bassett (Romonda, Queen Mother of Wakanda) confirmed that her character and her character’s daughter Shuri are still alive after Thanos (Josh Brolin) snapped his fingers and wiped out half the life in the universe.
Since Shuri is still alive, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) will get another brilliant scientist he can rely on when he makes plans to fight Thanos, and fix what the villain has done. Shuri may also play another more important part, as the story moves forward.
In the comics, Shuri emerged as the leader of Wakanda in her brother’s absence and even went on to become queen herself. She also took on the job as the protector of the country, but was rejected by the Panther God. She later protected the kingdom and earned her place to become the first female Black Panther.
The Black Panther storyline may be too much for an “Avengers” film, which already has to accommodate all the superheroes. But, the film may at least show the rise of Shuri, and wait for the solo film for her to become queen and more.
The producers are yet to reveal the name of the next film, but there are indications that it will be “Avengers: End Game.” It remains to be seen how Doctor Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) words to Tony Stark will play out in the film.
