The highly-anticipated The Avengers is set to shoot in New Mexico, a move which could possibly make it the biggest production to film in the state. Marvel Studios is taking the advantage of New Mexico's 25% tax rebate for film and TV productions. That's a long way to go away from Los Angeles.

But there's a catch. It's likely that The Avengers will have to be more PG friendly as one fo the eligibility requirement for the tax rebate is "to avoid excessive or gratuitous violence or sexual content, severe language, drug abuse, culturally sensitive material or a combination of some of the above."

It's not a bad thing at all for the film. Generally, a PG rating means more revenues for the film as it expands the demographic of its viewers, which was what the row on Ryan Gosling's Blue Valentines all about.

The move to New Mexico will save Marvel Studios a significan amount. The Avengers features an all-star cast such as Iron Man's Robert Downey, Captain America's Chris Evans, Thor's Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Clar Clegg and Mark Ruffalo. The same had been done with the Cohen brother's True Grit and another super hero movie Thor with Black Swan actress Natalie Portman and Hemsworth on lead roles.

The Avengers will be distribbuted by Disney, which acquired the rights after a deal made with Paramount earlier this year, and will be released in the Unites States on May 4, 2012 as target date.
