“The X Factor Australia” axed contestant Rochelle Pitt is speaking up about her experience at the Seven Network show, saying that her mentor Redfoo was just “OK” and he has a favourite contestant.

The 41-year-old Cairns nurse was eliminated on Monday after a deadlock judges’ vote with Caitlyn Shadbolt. A deadlock vote means that there has been no majority decision in the judges’ votes, so the show will refer to the original viewers’ votes. Rochelle, unfortunately, obtained the lowest number of votes for the week.

She was a standout from the start. No one expected her to have such powerful voice. The judges – Ronan Keating, Dannii Minogue, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and her future mentor Redfoo – were unanimous in saying yes to her during the audition. And until the last two weeks, her live show performances were flawless.

However, come Week 5, she got her first major gaffe on stage when she forgot the lyrics to Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” A week later, she also didn’t excel as usual in singing Gossip’s “Heavy Cross.” Dannii thought her performance didn’t feel natural, while Natalie perhaps best described it as “too screechy.”

Speaking with AAA, Rochelle attributed her elimination to the blonde bob wig that she wore for the live show on Sunday.

“I thought I might stay for another couple of weeks at least. I could have lost some of the votes because of the wig,” she said. “I don’t know about the performance as such, which is rock and not in my area, but I gave it a good go anyway ... the outfit I don’t know, it could have swayed a few people’s votes.”

As for her mentor, Rochelle didn’t have a lot to say about Redfoo. She thought that he was just “OK” because he was busy with his own career.

“He was OK,” she told the paper. “We had him a couple of times in the week. Probably two or three times a week because he is probably busy with his stuff as well.”

The American singer has just released his new single “New Thang,” which he premiered on the show during Week 4 elimination night.

In another interview, Rochelle described Foo as a “professional, smart man who knows his business,” but he was biased towards another of his act, 25-year-old Reigan Derry.

“I thought so, probably more at the start of the competition. I would have liked a bit more support there,” she told Confidential frankly when asked about Foo showing bias towards the younger singer.

She also revealed that the contestants have been bitching about each other in the show.

“They’re getting jealous of this one, or that one, and there is competition definitely happening,” she continued. “Some think it’s rigged, and they don’t believe in the voting. I’m like, ‘Why join the competition when you all think it’s rigged?’”

Rochelle is a single mother of four. Her three boys are 11, 7 and 4, while her daughter is 2.

“My big boys cried; they were upset for me. I’ll sit them down and say, ‘I’m not going to stop singing. I’m just not in the competition anymore. Mummy is home now.”
