‘The Bachelor New Zealand’ Reveals First Bachelorette; Partners With Michael Hill Jeweller
“The Bachelor New Zealand” has revealed its first bachelorette. Lisa, a 29-year-old clinical research from Auckland, will be competing with other single ladies for the affection of the still unnamed bachelor in the Kiwi adaptation of the U.S. reality show.
There are usually 25 women during the start of every season in the U.S. series, the number of which will decrease every week until the bachelor is left with two women to choose from. The show is expected to end with the bachelor proposing marriage to one, though sometimes the bachelor opts for friendship instead.
Lisa is the first woman revealed to join the show. She hasn’t been in a relationship before, claiming she regrets putting up barriers to protect herself.
“I need a guy that’s not intimidated by my strong personality and that challenges me life in and will call me out when I put up my wall,” she was quoted by 3News as saying. “I’m not a doormat so I need an equal partner that loves me for me; and my family, extended family and friends because they are all a huge part of my life.”
It is still unknown how many women are participating, and who the bachelor is. Filming starts in January, and will air on TV3 sometime this year.
Meanwhile, MediaWorks, TV3’s parent company, has signed with Michael Hill Jeweller to be the show’s Broadcast Sponsor. Group Head of Revenue Liz Fraser praises the new broadcast sponsor, calling the company a quality NZ brand that fits the ideology of the show.
“Their association with The Bachelor New Zealand is a celebration of love and recognition of the role their jewellery has played in New Zealand. This series is all about finding love and we can’t think of a better sponsor,” she said.
The jewellery company’s media director, Jamie McDougall, also said the series is a “perfect match” for the company.
“For 35 years, Michael Hill Jeweller has been a part of so many love stories in New Zealand with our engagement rigns becoming a treasured symbol of true love and commitment,” McDougall said in a statement. “We are thrilled that we can be involved in The Bachelor New Zealand and play a part in yet another special love story.”
