'The Bachelor' updates: Ben Higgins cancels wedding with Lauren Bushnell; but they're 'happier than ever'
"Happily Ever After" airs every Tuesday on Freeform.
Former Bachelor Ben Higgins and fiancée Lauren Bushnell announced recently that they are still together. On Tuesday night’s episode of their show “Happily Ever After?” the couple went into counselling. After that, Higgins admitted to his fiancé that he would want to put their wedding plans on hold. In doing this, he reveals that his fiancé is the woman of his dreams and that the last thing he wants for them is to rush everything. This statement sent Bushnell crying.
Higgins revealed that he absolutely still wants to marry his fiancé but just needed a little more time to get comfortable with the idea of spending forever with his most beloved. He reveals that their relationship progressed way too fast and that they have not had a second to breathe. At this point, he adds that they should be careful not to rush more things.
Ben Higgins, Lauren Bushnell postpone wedding; but they’re not breaking up
The couple was interviewed briefly by Entertainment Tonight where they addressed rumours that they are headed for a split. In doing so, Higgins says that that is just one of the many great things about doing a show after “The Bachelor” since the confusion about life and relationships is highlighted. To put an end to these rumours, the couple declared that they are together and happier than ever and that they have absolutely no plans of breaking up.
In addressing how he felt about what he said during the counselling session, Higgins reveals that they are in one of the best places to be in their relationship. He adds that they feel less stressed, pressured and that they are able to laugh and smile more.
Bushnell agrees: Building a lasting relationship takes time
US Magazine reports that the couple already had their much deserved break recently when they had their first off camera vacation together in Turks and Caicos. They say that they feel refreshed and at ease when they came back since they needed it badly.
Bushnell also revealed that “sometimes you have to listen to your relationship, listen to each other and yourself and know that we need some time here.” She adds that they are blessed enough to take that vacations which is what they needed exactly since all the relaxing activities which included paddling, snorkelling and more calmed their minds.
