In an interview with Woman’s Day Australia, the 30-year-old admitted that his heart was a bit sore after he had to leave the mansion, especially because the elimination came as a surprise for him. “I really did put myself out there as much as I could,” he said. “I put my heart on my sleeve and fought for Georgia.”
Jake explained that during that point of the show, he was already falling in love with the TV journalist. According to him, their time felt like a “normal relationship,” except for quickly they were learning to love each other. However, he admited that the fast pace of the relationship was part of why it was so exciting.
Following the hometown dates, Jake admitted that his head was in a good place. “Everything felt so natural and comfortable,” he confirmed. “It definitely was a shock to not get that rose.” Nevertheless, Jake understood why Georgia decided to send him home.
“From the very start, Georgia and I really opened up to each other about our family,” he said. “Georgia’s mum being not well and both my parents have been through extreme health battles over the years.” Jake went on to further discuss that Georgia saw how much his parents needed him and that she respected that. “She said she didn’t want to steal me away from them and cause my family heartache,” he shared.
