The Bachelorette finale airs Monday night in the U.S. This recap delivers the highlights of the much-awaited ending for Desiree Hartsock. Brooks Forester left Des and many viewers brokenhearted, but many expressed delight over how the reality show arrived at a conclusion.

The Bachelorette Finale Recap Highlights

- Desiree Hartsock gives roses to Drew Siegfried and Chris Kenney.
- "I'm madly in love with her. There isn't one iota of hesitation or doubt," Drew says.
- Desiree tearfully tells Drew Siegfried, "I feel like maybe there's something missing."
- "Will she become the first Bachelorette ever to go home alone?" The Bachelorette host Chris Harrison asks.
- Des, not so gloomy anymore, sees Chris Kenney. She flaunts her body in a bikini top and black sarong.
- "Going forward, I'll be there for you and I'll love you. You'll have a shoulder to cry on if you have to. You won't have to stand there by yourself," Chris says.
- "How could I not have loved him from the beginning?" Des says. (It seems Brooks Forester is out of the picture for good.)
- Des' brother Nate grills Chris, but Des tells him she does want to spend the rest of her life with him.
- Desiree looks gorgeous while waiting for Chris with the Caribbean island paradise in the background.
- Des feels a mix of thrill and doubt. She wonders how Chris would take the truth about her feelings for Brooks.
- As Chris is about to get down on one knee, Des stops him to open up. She tells him about Brooks.
- And then they kiss.
- Unmoved and still visibly happy, Chris asks Des, "Will you marry me?" And then he puts a ring on it.

The Bachelorette Finale Twitter Reactions

Some of The Bachelorette viewers have a lot to say about how this season ended for Des and Chris.

"I hope Des asks herself what she would do if Brooks came back & that the answer is that she would choose Chris. I hope," tweets @tristasutter.

Des has probably read most of the tweets about The Bachelorette, including this one, from @RadioAmy: "Ok. I haven't really been watching this season but basically if your name isn't Brooks - just walk away. She doesn't like you." Some viewers also wanted the idea of Des leaving the show without a ring on it.
