Bargain Hunters’ Bet: Samsung Galaxy S3, An Older Version That’s About to Get Upgraded and Cheaper
Everyone's been raving about the Samsung Galaxy S4, whether it's about the innovative, potentially smartphone-changing technology, down to the accessories that seem to make your lifestyle revolve around the handset.
But this week, it seems that the S3 will be taking the limelight--at least it will for bargain hunters who don't mind an older version--when it hits stores at a bargained price, as well as the confirmed announcement that the Key Lime Pie Android 5.0 will also roll out for the S3.
The S3 now at a fraction of the cost
The Full Signal adds that Sprint will be carrying a purple version of the S3 by April, which is just in time for the release of the S4. Since the two devices will be battling for the limelight, chances are the purple S3 will also be part of the bargained phones.
In general, S3 is clocking at a very cheap price, considering its 10-month old lifespan in the market. According to Digital Trends, UK buyers can get the S3 for as low as $490 in Amazon, compared to the $800 cost of the S4.
This is a considerably great deal, considering that, on closer look, the S4 only got better in terms of camera (sporting a 13-megapixel rear, 2-megapixel back), processor (the Exynos 5 eight-core, an upgrade from a quad-core 10 months ago), and the screen resolution (now a whopping 1920x1080p).
Of course, there are the new features and functions to look forward to, the most talked about being the Smart Technology that lets you do away with most of the swiping gestures on the smartphone.
But again, bargain hunters would find a better deal with the S3, and CNet fuels that belief, with the report of RadioShack now putting up discounted prices for Galaxy S3 to Sprint customers.
For as low as $49.99, customers can get a two-year contract with a new Sprint account. That's a total of $150 savings, a new account, and technology that's fairly breakthrough to begin with.
RadioShacks's discounted prices are available until April 4, so if you want to avail of one of Samsung's latest handsets, this is your chance.
Android 5.0 for the S3
That's right. If you're one of those who bought your S3 handset just a few months ago--it hasn't even been a year, mind you--there's no need to fret about having to save up for another brand-new phone.
According to Geeky Gadgets, Google's latest mobile OS, the Android 5.0, also dubbed as the Key Lime Pie, will also roll out to the S3.
Other Samsung gadgets that are in line for the Key Lime Pie upgrade include the S4 and Note 2.
