Bastian Schweinsteiger Personifies A 'Never Give Up' Attitude
The Bayern Munich midfielder personifies a can-do attitude more than any other player in the German national team, which makes the decision to make him the team captain is, needless to say, appropriate.
Being the captain of the German national team seems obvious and the logical step for the career of the 30-year-old football superstar.
The German has never shied away because from pain or injury, which is a perfect trait of a captain.
"I have always been able to rely on him," Germany coach said in a press conference. "Just look at how he performed for us in the World Cup in Brazil and in the final against Argentina."
Schweinsteiger who was recently hailed as the new captain of the German national team and replaced Philipp Lahm after he retired this year has made 108 appearances for Germany since 2004. During that 10-year tenure, he was able to establish himself as one of Joachim Low's key players.
It was previously rumoured that Sami Khedira would receive the call, but Schweinsteiger's performances at the club level have reflected his value for a leadership role.
Meanwhile, apart from the fortunate turn of events in Schweinsteiger's career, his love life is also going pretty well, as he has been reported with a new girlfriend. Tennis ace and former world no. 1 Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger are allegedly romantically linked together, according a German publication.
The reported romantic relationship of the two superstar athletes might explain the nomination of Ana's brother Milos to the footballer in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Previously, Ana Ivanovic also nominated Bastian Schweinsteiger on the challenge.
The dating rumour about Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger started from the German publication Bild, which reported that the couple were romantically linked and were seen out and about together recently.
