On Facebook, the fan page of “Bates Motel” has posted a birthday greeting dedicated to Olivia Cooke, who plays Emma Decody in the series. Fans who commented to the post asked for the Season 4 premiere date, but the admin only mentioned the year.
“Mother says she'll see you in 2016 for a new season of #BatesMotel,” reads the Facebook response.
“A new season of #BatesMotel is coming in 2016. Norman will be watching...what about you?” The “Bates Motel” Facebook page teases the fans, who are aware that darker times are ahead for Freddie Highmore’s character.
In “Bates Motel” Season 3, Norman has reached new depths when it comes to being the future mad man of the “Psycho” fiction. Highmore has spoken about this development, saying this sinking into darkness is “beginning of the end.”
“I’ve always seen season 3 as the real turning point where, by the end of it, Norman is much closer to the Norman Bates of ‘Psycho’ than to the Norman that we set up at the beginning of ‘Bates Motel,’” Highmore told Entertainment Weekly.
“Bates Motel” Season 4 opens a different world for Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga), who begins looking for a mental institution for her son Norman by the end of Season 3. Her other son Dylan (Max Thieriot) is more than spooked when Norman puts on their mom’s robe and acts as if he has taken her persona.
In real life, Thierot has just announced the birth of his first child with wife Lexi. The actor posted a photo of his baby boy, Beaux, on Instagram. In “Bates Motel” Season, conflict is expected to develop anew between Dylan and Norman, as the former has developed a romantic relationship with Norman’s ex, Emma.
Meanwhile, Norma Bates’ on-and-off love story with Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell) may not move forward much in “Bates Motel” Season 4. There is a new actress stepping into Romero’s life -- Jaime Ray Newman, who will play the role of Rebecca Hamilton.
Hamilton is an old flame of Romero, according to Deadline. She is “still very much in love” and likely to chase after Romero to stay in his life for good. Who would Norma turn to now?
