Hours after Warner Brothers announced the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman in a new superheroes that would feature the Caped Crusader and Superman, still to be portrayed by Henry Cavill, the social media world was flooded by mostly negative reactions of movie fans to the choice.

The most prominent objection to Affleck as the new Batman is the Mashable article titled 12 Ben Affleck Batman Memes the Internet Deserves. The Wed site quoted tweets of fans of the movie such as Margarita Noriega's reaction that "Bat Damon sounds way better," an obvious reference to Affleck's best friend, Matt Damon.

So, Mashable brought back the dynamic duo, casting Matt as Robin.

In explaining his choice of Affleck, Zack Synder, the film producer, said in defense of the 41-year-old Oscar winner, "Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry's Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wise than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne."

While the social media may be having fun with its memes, Affleck in turn would likely be laughing his way to the bank and the awards nights as well.
