There were negative reactions when Ben Affleck was initially announced as the new caped crusader in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." However, Christopher Nolan, director of the "Dark Knight" trilogies only had nice things to say about the actor.

The Daily Beast spoke to Christopher Nolan about his involvement in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." Being the executive producer of the sequel, he only had "advisory capacity" in terms of involvement. However, it's believed he was "influential in casting Ben Affleck" for the title role. Regardless of the skepticisms that initially surrounded the actor's casting, Nolan reportedly felt that Ben was the right guy to play Batman. The director told The Daily Beast that Ben Affleck is "incredibly talented" so he fits the role.

"When they told me that Ben was interested in doing it, I thought, 'How thrilling!'" he said.

"This is the guy who just won Best Picture as a director and as an actor and I thought it would be a great thing that he'd be willing to do this," Nolan thought when he first learned of having Ben Affleck as Batman.

Christopher Nolan once revealed to USA Today his great friendship with Zack Snyder. He also commended Ben Affleck for being an "extraordinary guy." Having Ben Affleck working with Zack Snyder equals exciting things to happen in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." Thus, Nolan also admitted his excitement over seeing what the pair can do together. It wouldn't be surprising if he'd "be the first in line to see what they've done."

Apparently, there are no more Batman films for the director or any superhero movies for that matter. When asked if there are any chances of him directing another superhero film, Christopher Nolan admitted that part of his life is over. Suffice to say that he has reportedly worked on Batman films for almost 10 years. However, he credits the experience as being "totally fulfilling" and "really thrilling."

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens in U.S. theatres on March 25, 2016. Cast and crew have been spotted in Chicago filming some scenes.
