‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ May Feature Female Robin, Harry Lennix Compares Ben Affleck With Christian Bale
"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" may feature more superheroes than expected. According to the latest rumours, the movie may introduce Batman's sidekick and ally Robin. However, this may come with a twist.
"The Hunger Games" actress Jena Malone has sparked rampant speculations after she shared a photo of her on Instagram. In the picture, she shows off her new look with her hair dyed red. Cinema Blend notes it's the "colour similar to" DC comics character Carrie Kelley, female Robin from "The Dark Knight Returns."
A week ago, in an interview with MTV, actor Ben Affleck confirmed that Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" derives its inspiration from Frank Miller's 1986 comic book "The Dark Knight Returns." "I do think Zack was heavily influenced by ['Dark Knight Returns']," Ben Affleck told MTV.
The DC Comics fans know that the original Robin was Dick Grayson, who was succeeded by many other alternative versions of Robin. In the comics, after saving Batman's life, Carrie Kelly was accepted by Batman as his sidekick and his companion in his missions. Later in "The Dark Knight Strikes Again," she takes up the identity of Catgirl.
Speculations about Jena Malone having a role in the movie stirred up in August when a photo of her from the "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" sets emerged. Even though she tried to shun the rumours by stating that she was only there for "set visit," fans continued to speculate.
While some believe that she could be part of the movie, some are still skeptical about it. However, the news remains unconfirmed and must be treated as mere speculation.
Meanwhile, it is reported that actor Harry Lennix will reprise the role of General Swanwick in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." In an interview with Vintage Sound 93.1 FM (via Batman-News), he revealed why he thinks Ben Affleck is "going to be perfect" as Batman.
"I'm especially excited that we've got an American actor here, that's increasingly rare," Harry Lennix tells the host. "The last guy, who did a great job, Christian Bale - is British. I think that when you've got somebody that doesn't have to act like an American and embodies that ethos, if you will, then that gives him a head start," he continued.
He also thinks that Ben Affleck is "very, very intelligent" and he and his character have the same kind of temperament. What do you think?
Besides Ben Affleck, "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and more. The movie is scheduled for release on March 25, 2014.
