‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' trailer: Zack Snyder reveals reason for Doomsday's early introduction
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” director Zack Snyder has been doing press rounds lately talking about the movie, ahead of its theatrical release on May 25, 2016. In a recent interview, he was asked about the seemingly early introduction of Doomsday in the trailer. Snyder revealed his presence is necessary to excite fans about the film.
Doomsday’s appearance in the official “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” trailer was somewhat of a surprise spoiler to viewers. Snyder said his reasons for putting Doomsday in the preview, instead of having the villain as a big reveal in the full movie, is more for the sake of the audience.
“To us it really made sense to give [Doomsday] to the audience now. I really wanted to make the audience a promise that… though I’m super excited and happy and fulfilled by the conflict of Batman and Superman, there’s also a bigger world to start to think about,” Snyder revealed in an interview with The Daily Beast.
The director also somehow confirmed that Doomsday will not get killed in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” He will live long enough to face the Justice League. When asked if either Darkseid or Brainiac will be the biggest threat to the Justice League team, Snyder casually mentioned Doomsday.
“He doesn’t just crawl out of the ground. He has his own mythology, right? So that has to be explored,” he told The Daily Beast.
In the same interview, the director also revealed that there were talks about just how much will be revealed in the movie preview. Prior to the release of the “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” trailer, Snyder said he and Warner Bros mulled over the scenes that will be included. In the end, they decided to release a three-minute trailer that was long enough to provide movie spoilers.
Snyder added that he and Warner Bros. have already taken ownership of the scenes revealed in the trailer. Despite viewers’ comments that it was too long, they reportedly felt that the “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” trailer was “consistent” with the hype surrounding the movie.
