‘Batman V Superman’ Inspired By Frank Miller's ''The Dark Knight Returns,' Says Ben Affleck
While on his promotional tour for the movie adaptation of David Fincher's "Gone Girl ," Ben Affleck supposedly confirmed that "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is highly influenced by Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight" trilogy. Previous speculations point to Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" as a source of inspiration for the sequel. Marvel and DC have yet to confirm this though. But Ben Affleck on the other hand may have hinted confirmation during his recent interview.
Talking to MTV, Movieweb claims the "Batman" actor indirectly confirmed Frank Miller's inspiration for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." The actor said movie director Zack Snyder was "heavily influenced" by the concept from "The Dark Knight Returns."
"I think everyone's heavily influenced by that...that's the seminal work," he said.
However, Ben Affleck clearly tried his best not to reveal any movie spoilers when he also attributed the graphic novel's influence to other movies. According to writer Alan Orange, the actor also sited previous films that may have likewise derived some of its concept from Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns."
"I don't think that there's any of these which have been made that haven't drawn from that book because it's so good," Ben Affleck said in the MTV interview.
In jest, the actor claimed anyone smart enough would know to "steal from the best." That's reportedly why from now on he'd rip David Fincher's work wherever he goes.
Kidding aside, the 42-year old also revealed how much the Batsuit costs in an interview with "Live with Kelly and Michael." ABC News claims Ben Affleck revealed a lot goes into the suit for it to be priced at around $100,000. He reportedly once expressed his desire to bring home the costume once filming for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" wraps up. Apparently, he claimed he'd have to give the amount before he could even take the Batsuit with him.
"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is still two years away from its premiere on March 25, 2016. However, the actor claimed he is "very much looking forward to it." Comicbookmovie claims Ben Affleck hinted the movie will be "very exciting."
