The long wait for the trailer for the official "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" may soon be over if the recent speculations are confirmed. According to reports the official preview has a release date slated for May of this year.

According to the report from UK's The Telegraph, the trailer for the "Man of Steel" sequel will debut with the theatre premiere of "Mad Max: Fury Road." George Miller's movie, led by stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, will open in U.S. cinemas in May 15, 2015. However, no confirmation has been released yet regarding the trailer's release date.

But per The Telegraph, it's also likely for the trailer to be released in May 2015 considering the first teaser for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is allegedly already finished. Citing an entry in the blog Batman on Film, the first teaser is believed to be already "complete and ready to go" even way back in October. Likewise, The Telegraph writer Rebecca Hawkes claims that "both Dawn of Justice and Fury Road are big, heavily anticipated Warner Bros blockbusters." So it's supposedly possible for the dystopian Mad Max series to lend "some credence to the suggestion" that May 15 is the official release date of the "BVS" movie trailer.

According to iDigitalTimes, the rumour on the release date came after a trailer description was leaked and the video was released online via the image sharing Web site 4chan. Warner Bros. has not commented on the trailer nor confirmed or denied if it was legit. However, it reportedly featured a voice over from Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne) saying, "the world has changed with the arrival of the Kryptonians." The trailer supposedly also looks back at the Metropolis chaos and destruction seen in "Man of Steel" and also includes another voice over from Batman saying," Is Superman here to save us or to destroy us?" And "I'm gonna find out" before cutting to a shot of the "Batman V Superman" logo.

Regardless, what's confirmed is the release of a standalone sequence different from the one previewed at the San Diego Comic-con. In an interview with Collider, Weta Digital's Senior Visual Effects Supervisor Joe Letteri said the studio is working on a battle scene for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" "that's self-contained." Whatever this sequence is remains to be seen until the movie comes out in U.S. theatres on March 25, 2016.
