'Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice': Alfred is not a butler; character details revealed
Alfred in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will not be seen as a butler, which was the character’s job in the previous movies, TV shows and comics. Instead, the character will be getting an interesting back-story, with a more modern job title.
[Spoiler alert]
According to a report by WhatCulture, Alfred (Jeremy Irons) first joined the Wayne family as a bodyguard. Following the gruesome death of Thomas Wayne (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), young Bruce Wayne let go of all the staff in Wayne manor except Alfred.
Alfred became Bruce’s legal guardian and confidant. It was Alfred’s decision to leave Wayne manor and shift to a new house. This explains the run down condition of the old mansion in the movie.
According to the new back story of Alfred, he was an SAS officer. His official job description after Bruce (Ben Affleck) is grown up is chief of security. The character does not live inside Bruce’s new house, but chooses to live in a “comfortable trailer,” which is inside the Wayne estate.
It was Alfred who helped Bruce train to become the crime fighting superhero in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” As an SAS officer, Alfred has training in “weapons, intelligence gathering, medicine, and piloting a variety of vehicles.” Apart from training Bruce to become the Caped Crusader, he also assists him to the best of his ability, as seen in the trailers of the movie.
The main plot of the movie revolves around Bruce’s paranoia with regards to the Man of Steel (Henry Cavill). The Caped Crusader will be concerned about the god-like powers of the alien superhero and he also blames him for the destruction caused by General Zod (Michael Shannon) and the others from Krypton.
The trailers of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” show that Alfred was against the Caped Crusader going to war against the Man of Steel. Fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting to see who will win the fight between the two popular superheroes.
