'Batman vs. Superman' Starts Filming in Los Angeles on Oct. 19, 2013

"Batman vs. Superman," the highly anticipated sequel to the "Man of Steel," film directed by Zack Snyder, will reportedly start filming some football scenes on Oct. 19, 2013 at the East Los Angeles College (ELAC) Weingart Stadium in Monterey Park, California.

According to the East Los Angeles College Campus News, Warner Bros. Pictures will film at ELAC's Weingart Stadium during halftime of the scheduled Husky football game.

The film is still untitled but it is commonly referred to as "Batman vs. Superman," by a lot of people.

Director Zack Snyder will still direct the sequel and most of the cast will be retained, including Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.

The newest addition to the team is Ben Affleck who will play Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The football game will start at 6:30 p.m. and the ELAC and Victor Valley College football teams will compete against each other.

But, the stadium will be transformed into the Gotham City University home stadium when halftime comes. It will be used as a backdrop to film a scene which features a football game between Metropolis State University, which is Superman' team and its rival, Gotham City University, which is Batman's team.

At halftime, the film crew will shoot three takes of three plays from the football game. The reactions of the actors and the crowd will be captured during this time.

Warner Bros. reportedly sent out a press release saying that the director and producers of the film are searching for extras for the said scene. They prefer to get people in the Los Angeles area, especially students from ELAC.

The extras will be part of a crowd of spectators for the football game and will wear black and gold, which are the colors of the Gothan City University.

Plus, T-shirts designed by Snyder will be given away to the first 2,000 people who sit in the filming area of the stadium and who will participate in the filming of the scene. Prizes will also be raffled throughout the night.

According to Ernest Burnett, ELAC's College event and Venue Coordinator, the filming of the scene will last for about 20 minutes during halftime and then the 2nd half of ELAC's game will follow the film shoot.

Burnett also said that Snyder wanted to support ELAC and the community that's why he decided to use the ELAC Weingart Stadium instead of using other campuses. And, because it is usually featured in a lot of movies, the students are used to seeing a film crew shoot some scenes in the campus.

It's very helpful for ELAC in terms of revenue because feature films pay a lot of money to use their campus.

"It's also a big opportunity for us (ELAC), and to cheer on our Huskies. Victor Valley is not a bad team," Burnett said.

So, fans of both Batman and Superman, get ready for some serious action in the football field. Who knows, maybe a battle between the two beloved superheroes will ensue right there.
