‘Battlefield 1’ news & update: Single player campaign to offer larger areas and more choices for multiplayer mode’s open sandbox feel
“Battlefield 1” will have a single player campaign. Players are currently too much focused on the multiplayer aspect of the game. It’s been quite some time that players got to lay their hands on a World War shooter. Hence, expectations are sky-rocketing. While the multiplayer feature of the game is looking amazing, the single player campaign will also be pretty dramatic.
“Battlefield 1” is set in the World War I (WWI)era, which alone is a good sign for players as they would be getting a fresh story for the single player campaign. Players may also expect incredible writing from EA and DICE considering most stories set in that era are quite dramatic and interesting.
Dice earlier revealed that the “Battlefield 1” single player campaign would centre on a group of soldiers “dealing with the changing world in their own ways,” writes The Bitbag. As regards the duration of the single player campaign, DICE generally keeps them in the six to eight hours slot.
Players aren’t expecting much and they believe that this campaign will also be in that timeframe, provided they try and find every collectible in “Battlefield 1” single player campaign. As the game will be more focused on the multiplayer aspect, there is little chance that duration for the single player campaign will be expanded.
As is the case with most single player shooter campaigns, players believe “Battlefield 1” will have linear areas with little choices for every level. However, reports suggest that this single player campaign will take a different approach with massive areas and more choices. This was also confirmed by lead designer Danny Berlin, reported GameSpot in May.
It is possible that DICE is trying to provide the multiplayer mode’s open sandbox feel to the “Battlefield 1” single player campaign.
EA tweeted that the “Battlefield 1” Open Beta will end this Thursday, Sept. 8. The developer even revealed a change in the game’s “Conquest” mode, which is related to match duration.
