Silver screen version of F Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel "The Great Gatsby" by the Australian director's Baz Luhrmann (a 2013 romantic drama of the same title) has become his most successful film till date. "The Great Gatsby" was made at estimated Budget of $105,000,000 and grossed a remarkable US $105-M in its opening weekend at the box office. The film has grossed $144,840,419 in North America alone. The movie has fetched approximately $204,000,000 overseas and a sum of $348,840,419 all-inclusive.

The story revolves around the novelist protagonist Nick Carraway as he has left the Midwest and come to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of low ethics.

The film was distributed in 3D and 2D by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in some selected places by Village Roadshow Pictures.

The movies has received 14 nominations for the 2014 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards in the film categories - including prospective awards for international stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan. At the same time Joel Edgerton, Elizabeth Debicki and Isla Fisher nominated in the supporting actor and actress categories respectively.
