The Beki Chronicles: Young & Restless Actor Comes Out After DOMA Court Decision (VIDEOS & PHOTOS)
Former Glee star Charice Pempengco admitted in June that she was lesbian because her mom, Raquel, had confirmed her daughter's gender preference to end public speculation caused by the international singer's drastic change in appearance.
In the case of The Young & the Restless actor Greg Rikaart, it appears to be the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark decision to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) that led him to finally come out and admit he is gay.
Rikaart made it by posting on Twitter a picture of him and a male cuddling on Thursday, June 27, reported GayStarNews. Along with the photo was the tweet, "Not getting married anytime soon, but celebrating #equality tonight nonetheless." The man with him is writer Robert Sudduth, his boyfriend.
GayStarNews, however, reported that the actor actually attended the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center's An Evening With Women event in June, apparently the first time he acknowledged his sexuality publicly.
Greg, 36, and a native of Brooklyn, also celebrated a decade of being in the cast of Young & the Restless where he portrays the role of Kevin Fisher, a straight guy who has a relationship with Jana Hawkes, played by Emily O'Brien, and Chloe Mitchell, essayed by Elizabeth Hendrickson.
Greg's portrayal of Kevin won for him a Daytime Emmy Award in 2005.
Rikaart had been hinting of his sexuality by writing a blog in the summer of 2012 for HuffPost Gay Voices about his opposition to Chick-fil-A and its support of anti-gay groups.
