Ben Affleck chosen to play Batman in the "Man of Steel" sequel is major news that we all are excited about. But what makes it more interesting is that the 41-year-old Affleck as Batman will be pitched against Superman, who will be played by Henry Cavill.

While Affleck will step into the shoes of reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne, Batman's alter-ego, in the upcoming film, it will be the first time that two superheroes Batman and Superman will be seen together in a movie. So who will make a better superhero? Ben Affleck as a slightly older yet experienced Batman or our 30-something young and adventurous Henry Cavill as Superman?

Let's look at what advantages Ben Affleck has.

First off, the yet to be named sequel to "Man of Steel" will be released by Warner Brothers, who have good past equation with Affleck as they released his "Argo" which won Best Picture ward. Warner Bros will also release his upcoming movie "Live By Night" where Affleck is a director.

Ben Affleck has left romantic silly-boy image way behind in his career and played mature characters lately in "Argo" and "The Town." He has been both a successful actor and director and has requisite skills to play a mature - reclusive Batman.

Affleck, though 41, still looks charming and is physically strong to play the character. "Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry's Superman," director Zack Snyder said in a statement. "He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can't wait to work with him."

We can't wait to see how good Affleck will look in a black tuxedo for the scenes of Bruce Wayne. However there is one glitch. Batman is 6' and Affleck is 6'4". Are you ready for a taller Batman?

Let's dig a little further into how Henry Cavill is a Superman.

Zack Snyder has earlier called Cavill as "the perfect choice to don the cape and 'S' shield." And Cavill has proved his worth. Snyder's "Man of Steel" made $650 million at the global box office.

On being chosen for the role, Cavill commented to Inquisitor.com, "In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honoured to be a part of his return to the big screen."

Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will be seen playing the role of Superman/Clark Kent along with "Man of Steel" stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The yet-to-be titled sequel, slated for release on July 17, 2015.

So who is your favourite character? Ben Affleck as "Batman" or Henry Cavill as "Superman"?
