Ben Affleck spoke up about reports that he has been counting cards in casinos. The “Gone Girl” star admitted that he became obsessive with playing blackjack in casinos, but he was never escorted out of one.

Reports claimed that the 42-year-old Academy Award winner had been losing a gambling addiction problem. Some rumours also alleged that he was thrown out of a casino after he was caught counting cards.

The reports were just partly true, as Affleck admitted. He said that it was true that he was “sort of obsessive” with the game, he was never thrown out of a casino just because he became so good at playing.

He was, however, asked to play another game.

“That is a true story. I mean, that took place. I took some time to learn the game and became a decent blackjack player,” he told Details. “And once I became decent, the casinos asked me not to play blackjack. I mean, the fact that being good at the game is against the rules at the casinos should tell you something about casinos.”

He added that he doesn’t play any other games of chance aside from blackjack. When he learnt how to improve his chances of winning the game, he became obsessive with it.

“Yeah, I got good. I’m sort of obsessive. I tend to get myopic and get into one thing. And really get into it. And then get bored and switched to something else.”

He wasn’t thrown out of a casino for being really good, though. That part of the gossips isn’t true.

“No, I wish! That would be awesome. ‘Get him outta here! He’s a magician!’ Unfortunately they just came up and said, ‘We can’t let you play blackjack. But we have other table games! We have Chinese poker!’

As for stories claiming his wife Jennifer Garner “can’t take it anymore,” Affleck responded, “See, that’s tabloid s---! That’s all bull----! They completely lie. I mean, I can show you 10 articles of Star and OK! – those magazines feel totally comfortable absolutely fictionalising every single element of the story. And there’s nothing you can do about that.

“My only hope is that people with any common sense recognise that those stories are false. And, I don’t know, there’re worse stories.”

Affleck is filming his role as Batman in the 2016 superhero flick “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” He is starring in the David Fincher-directed “Gone Girl,” based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn.

“Gone Girl” will be released in October.
